Sandblasting of wood – Woodworking
Structuring:
Soft annual rings or pores are removed when sandblasting wood, and the wood structure is thus vividly revealed.
Suitable:
Soft wood: fir, spruce, pine In the case of horizontal annual rings (fladering), the outside of the trunk is more suitable. Soft and hard years run smoothly into each other (see illustration).
On the inside, the hard years tend to detach from the soft ones in the form of splinters. After-treatment by sanding or brushing then becomes necessary.
Hardwood: oak or, for example, ash (porous woods)
Design:
Using a special film, for example, wooden surfaces can be designed with writings, logos and individual motifs by sandblasting. Can also be lifted off in color, for example.
Suitable:
Softwoods (spruce, fir, pine, lime, conditionally also plywood as well as also blockboards)
Fields of application:
Signs, garage doors, front doors (handle board)
Paint stripping:
The environmentally friendly alternative to stripping or de-lacquering. Old varnishes and paints are removed by wood sandblasting in a dry process (so that no toxic vapors or chemical reactions occur). At the same time, this creates a blasting pattern just like texturing.
Suitable:
Solid wood of all types (beech, spruce, oak, walnut, cherry, pine, etc.) Hardwood veneered surfaces (oak, walnut or even cherry)
Conditionally suitable:
Softwood veneered surfaces (spruce, pine or limba) veneer thickness min. 1mm
Fields of application:
Furniture, doors, chairs or e.g. wagon wheels etc.
